Lake Pavilion

The clients asked for a home that would disappear into the shoreline in summer and feel like a lantern in winter. The site is narrow, steep and flooded twice a century.

We lifted a single concrete plate a metre above the flood line and hung a timber pavilion beneath it. Every room faces the water; the service spaces sit in a stone plinth that reads as part of the old retaining wall.
